Random wi-fi disconnects

by chf_2258 / July 31, 2010 3:42 AM PDT

Hi - I have a Belkin G router F5D7234-4 v.4, Win7HP, Atheros wi-fi adapter, HP G60-440US laptop.

I have had this unit for about a year with no problems. About two weeks ago it started dropping the signal...and then I can re-connect in about 10-15 seconds. Nothing has changed with regard to my location use but around the time this started, I had installed Oracle VirtualBox which adds a network adapter (I have since un-installed the adapter, not VB).

When is it hard-wired, which is seldom, it works great.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks, CF

Has a few top posts about suggested settings. In short, router defaults, ssid broadcasting and WPA PSK for security. Your post didn't tell so we start with the forum advice.
