Question

RAM question for Jimmy

Jul 20, 2011 11:52AM PDT

MacPro, believed to be 2008 model, Quad Xeon, 10.6.4
Shipped, used, to buyer with one memory module. Buyer had already purchased additional RAM modules which were installed prior to the machine ever being booted.
System Profiler recognizes the two new modules and ignores the original 1.

In my experience even buying another module may not work because it needs to be an exact match even down to the brand of the chip. This happened to me with a G5 and the RAM chip didn't work and Other World Computing told me it was because of the different brands.
