RAM issues

by NLengle / March 19, 2004 5:46 AM PST

I recently upgraded from ME to XP. I have 1024MB (1GB) RAM (4x256 modules) which worked peachy keen until I upgraded. Now, I'm only seeing 640MB. (2x256 and 2x64). It's this way in the BIOS, so I don't think it has anything to do with XP, and anyway, XP can utilize up to 4GB RAM, correct?

Why would I have all 1GB before XP and now, 128MB has gone missing? I could understand if it was a single 128MB module or something, but it's both 128 modules being cut in half that strikes me as odd. The absolute ONLY change I have made is the OS.

Any thoughts? Could this have anything to do with the virtual memory settings?
