ram help

I bought 1 stick of 256mb ddr 400mhz 3200 184pin
and i have a 128 stick in my computer and when i put it in nothing happens it starts up but nothing is sent to the monitor (like its unpluged)i aslo have a radeon 9600se 128 that says Elixir on thae ram chips and the same name is on the ram stick. i tryed differnet set ups like switching and only the new one in but nothing. please help i will check for updates alot

to the motherboard are Bios updates. I suggest you look up the manual and see exactly which RAM will work.

PC2100 for the memory. Even though PC3200 should be backwards compatible, I would try what the manual suggests.

Judging from the age of the Bios....

which looks like 4/29/2002, and the updated Bios being some 7 months later, I would guess that this board will not support PC3200 ram. You may contact FIC to verify this, but I would bite the bullet and go with what works (PC2100).

is not a big deal because i only payed $32 for the ram and were can i look at the manual ?
and this is just my old pc i got a new one about 4 months ago and payed around 2300
