You mention that you have tried to use the chip by itself, by that I must assume you had other memory chips already installed. As you are probably upgrading with this new ram chip I can also assume the old memory probably came with the motherboard. (yes/no?) Looking at the specs for your board it came with two possible speeds for the ram 100 and 133. Both will not coexist on most dual speed capable boards. It's either one or the other. There are jumpers and a dip switch that allow for you to change bus speeds and you will probably have to set these to match your new ram. If the old ram is PC100 and you set the jumpers to allow for your new PC133 chip the old memory must come out because it will not coexist with the PC133. Some boards from that day and age would allow for PC133 chips to function as PC100 chips alongside your existing PC100 but I think it's safe to say that you've proven yours does not. You will have to choose between keeping the old ram and running the ram at PC100 or taking them out in favor of the new PC133. If you decide to use the new chip don't forget to change the jumper settings to allow for it. It looks as if the settings are clearly labled on your motherboard so it should not be a problem figuring out what to change.
