RAM

Dec 28, 2007 3:10AM PST

Hi,

I have a quick question.

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my Macbook. (going from 512 MB to 2 Gigs) I went to Best Buy the other day and there was a huge price difference between two different manufacturers (e.g. Kingston vs. some other brand). Is there is a difference in the quality of RAM between two different manufacturers? Or should I just go with the cheaper one?

Thanks a lot!

It doesn't work.

I still prefer Crucial.com since they've got it right every time for me.

Not all RAM is created equal but,

that is not to say that the more expensive the RAM, the better it is.

All RAM should conform to the computer makers specifications and most RAM manufactures follow the specs.

Kingston is a good brand and I believe their stuff comes with a lifetime warranty.

I would advise you to take a look at the on-line sellers of RAM like Crucial.com or Ramjet.com. Use their configurators and you will get exactly the right RAM for your machine.
I have never had a problem with Crucial. If Best Buy want more that $52 for the 2 X 1GB sticks, check out the two mentioned above.

Hope this helps
