RAID problems.

by spookyboy / May 5, 2005 2:53 PM PDT

Hello, my buddy just helped me set up a RAID configuration on my system. I know almist nothing about RAID and am running into problems. It keeps running scandisk (randomally) and deleting orphened files. I don't know exactly what that means. It did that a few times then wouldn't load windows at all. We did a reinstall and the speed increase was great. But again it did the orphened files thing. The raid shows up and seems to work, but just keeps having these minor problems. Here's what im running.

Windows XP sp2
Syba-PCI Ultra ATA 133 IDE RAID Controller Card

Thanks in advance

With 2 disk drives only 2 RAID configurations are possible .

First possibility is RAID 0 (striping across both disks, no data redundancy). If this is what you have, it seems likely that one of your hard drives is bad.

Second possibility: RAID 1 (mirroring drives for total redundancy). If this is what you have, and you are seeing file system corruption as described, I would suspect the RAID controller.

Recommendation: if you are using RAID 0, re-build system as a RAID-1 configuration, then if the problem goes away, you almost surely have a bad hard drive

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
