It's one reason I can't use those onboard RAID systems. They break and then you see this.
It's possible the raid firmware or driver is defective. I'd start over but skip raid for more traditional backups.
My Dell Precision 390 has had a Raid 1 setup forever. One hard drive
failed and I ordered a replacement hard drive, 80gig sata, western
digital, WD800JD, same as the one that failed and same as the good one. I
installed the new hard drive. I booted the PC and the system detected
the new drive on a black screen and it said, the new drive did not have
enough available space to continue. I exited the black screen and the PC
booted to windows off the original drive. The Intel Matrix storage
console detected the new hard drive and asked if I wanted to restore the
Raid 1 configuration and I clicked yes. The problem is right now is,
this process has been running close to 6 hours with no end in sight?
Should this process take that long or is there something that needs to
be done to correct this issue? HELP!
