Storage forum

I'm in the market for building a new rig to my worn out Q6600 + GTX 260 system. I will probably go with pretty standard modern equivalents like i7 2600k and a nvidia 400 or 500 series (you should toss in your 2 cents on this).

My real question stems from my desire to have seriously upgraded storage. I want Raid 0, I know that for sure. What do you all think about SSDcaching? I don't want to go solely the SSD route, because I feel like the technology is still pretty immature. Is a RAID 0 setup system possible with SSD caching? What about a RAID 0 setup with 2 cache SSDs in RAID 0? I think the latter would be pretty bad ***.

looks expensive. Should i just stick to raid, or caching, or raid hdd, with caching. I have omitted raid caching- seems ludicrous. (awesome, but ridiculous.) Well, actually it would be dumb, because a pure raid sdd setup would be better and simpler.

but out of the former 3, raid hdds, hdd with cache, raid hdd with caching or the 4th, pure raid/non-raid sdd. which is best?

To determine best you build it, test it and post results.

If you are really lucky, someone has built it before.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
