Bleeding edge.

2011 looks to be bleeding edge. I find some folk to not understand Alpha versions. Often they feel slighted when it's bugged.

If you have to ask, it's not for you. It's prerelease software, which means it only half works for half the devs using it.

Now though, if you don't mind constant crashing, filing detailed bug report and having your favorite software work today but not tomorrow only to have to fix it from a command line since x.org wet the bed with the latest test patch then sure, install it.

If none of that sounds like fun then stick to the normal versions.

You have some options here.

You could install it as Dual Boot or use Virtual Box to test drive.

A clean install ensures you that some that is not compatible will crash the system. Usually I do a full install on my systems without formating the Home Partition, just Root. The only thing that would mess up the install if some that is configured on Home will crash X (Desktop Environment).

Most people that are Alpha and Beta testers, use Virtual Box or load them on a Separate Partition.

I hope it helps Happy

MD5 Checksum
Apr 5, 2011 1:07AM PDT

If you downloaded the ISO file, just double click on the file. Part of the procedure is the Checksum. If you use K3B you will see a progression bar and will tell you when is done.

The reason for that is that to tell you the copy is complete and tamper proof.

If you burn it without the checksum you are running the risk of a bum ISO (incomplete or bad download) or tampered copy.
