Get yourself a good system to backup your PC. Setup the drive or drives to logically separate your OS and APPs from your data.
If my system won't boot or blue screens....I can get an image file of the entire drive C: from drive D:( the second partion on drive 0) that can put a good working image back in 15 minutes and I'll loose nothing except the blue screen. If for any reason I have to wipe out every thing on C:, all my irreplaceable data is on D: and actually it's also on a second hard disk (drive 1) in the system.
PS..If your system is setup correctly....you won't need Partition Expert or Drive Cleanser.....Acronis True Image or something like it...YES.
Unless you've got a lot more time than money, my advice is to ditch ANY HD, no matter how new, that still gives problems after a thorough wipe and reformat. (Use Acronis products... Drive Cleanser and Partition Expert if you want a trouble free experience.)
Just how much of your life are you willing to waste arguing with an old HD that still may be unreliable after all your recovery efforts when, for $50, you can buy a brand new HD with warranty?
Give the old drive to someone you don't like.
