Quicktime Pro in apps?

Aug 8, 2009 12:04PM PDT

We bought Quicktime Pro but we can't find it in the applications folder. Only the regular Quicktime player is in apps. Is there something that we need to do to fix this?

QuickTime Pro

QT Pro does not appear in the applications folder. In fact it does not appear anywhere under that name.

When you purchased QT Pro you should have been sent, or directed to, a serial number. The serial number activates the PRO version of QT. All the functionality of QT Pro is already in the basic version of QT, it justs needs the serial to unlock it.

Go to System Preferences > Quicktime > and click on the Register Tab.

If the Pro version is already installed, you will see the QT icon with the word PRO on it and the Registered To: and Registration Code: fields will be filled in.
If they are not, use the name and registration code that you got, and fill them in.

Once that is done, you will have the PRO features in QuickTime Player and other places behind the scenes.

Let us know how you got on

Quicktime Pro in apps?

Thank you Mr Macfixit. According to your directions we do have the Pro version installed. We bought the Pro version basically because we wanted a way to post movies on our site and not have them copied (at least not so easily), a feature that the Pro version is supposed to have. However when we make a movie and click on the control panel the option to save the movie is still available. Do you know how to turn that option off? Appreciate the help.

How are you trying to put a movie on your site,
Aug 9, 2009 4:26AM PDT

and where is the site?

You must be using some other program to produce the movie before it gets saved as a Quicktime movie and something else to put the movie where you want it.

Huh?

I'm not sure I understand.

When you say "You must be using some other program to produce the movie before it gets saved as a Quicktime movie" are you suggesting that I'm doing this, or that I need to be doing this?

I am not doing this. The site isn't even up yet. I just remember reading that protecting a Quicktime movie was one of its features and need to learn how to turn that feature on.

Protecting a movie,

is usually the function of the website coding. I have not seen anything in QT itself that would work but I could have missed something.

Both MobileMe and iWeb have that function built in where you can specify whether the picture or movie can be copied by right clicking and saving as source.

This website, what do you plan to build it with?

It's going to be more of a teaching website.

I have iWeb but it is too hard to install a forum on it, so that's why I didn't want to use it for the site.
