As it requires upgrades. In short you could install VirtualBox, then Windows 98 and finally 1998 Quicken all in the Virtual Box setup. This also has a nice side effect that the VM should be able to run on any machine that has VirtualBox installed.

Hi
I have quicken 1998 which i know is really really old but worked on everything so far until having a new laptop recently with Windows 8. Its the only programme I cant run and am gutted! I'm not that techy or adventurous, just desperate!
Any advice on ether how I make Quicken work (copying certain files?) or any recommendations of free banking packages which are similar to Quicken (I like the register, calendar, (repeating entries) and reconcile functions), would be very much appreciated
