Quick Time

I am operating windows xp. I lost i-tunes some time ago and recently tried to reinstall it. There is a fault with Quick Time. I tried to uninstall Q.T. and got a message 'fatal error on installation'. I cannot understand this as i-tunes worked perfectly for years. Can anyone help me make a clean uninstall of Quick Time?

Quick Time

Thank you for your reply (R Proffitt)
I have tried via Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs and after a short time I get the message - Fatal error during installation.
I can't understand how this could have happened as it worked perfectly for many years.
