You can purchase a basic or quick messaging phone from Amazon. Other places sell them also, but I trust Amazon sellers.
You must purchase a Verizon compatible phone. If you want to pay full price and avoid a contract, purchase a "replacement phone". Carefully read to make sure you are not entering into a 2 year contract or the Edge plan. The easiest way is to buy a quick messaging phone at full retail directly from Verizon.
My fiance will add a Verizon line to her plan for me. It will cost me $10. She has an old plan that is out of contract. Verizon tole her if I get a phone from Verizon they want her to enter into a contract. They also told her if she adds a smartphone that uses data she will have to enter into a contract. But if she adds a non-smart phone she does not have to enter into a contract.
I have looked at eBay and there are a lot of phones. I know that Apple's are smartphones, but what others are? What I am looking for is a basic phone with some kind of keyboard, slider or touch, to send texts. No e-mail, no GPS, nothing like that needed.
Can someone give me some guidance on what to look for?
Thank you very much.
