Question regarding Proshow Gold 2.0 HELP!!!!!!!!!

Nov 25, 2004 7:48AM PST

Does anyone know of a better way of sorting pictures with Proshow Gold 2.0? The small scrolling screen is inadequate; it's hard sort the order of the pictures, especially when there are more than 500 pictures that I want to include on my DVD slideshow. Any suggestions and/or help will be greatly appreciated.

I have done several slide shows with ProShow Gold 2.0 and have wondered the same thing.

As a workaround, I set the file list window to thumbnails and increased the size of that window by dragging the edges. Then I could scroll through the files and select the photo in the order that I wanted to drag them to the "Show List"

Even a separate program that would perform like a photo story-board and then would rename the photos in the finished order would be acceptable to me.

Thanks for your response.

Since you have ProShow Gold, do you have problems with the tops of the pictures being cut off? It appears that the pictures are viewed fine on my computer, prior to burning the DVD. However, when I view the DVD with my TV, the edges of the pictures (mainly the top portion of the pictures) tend to be missing. Do you know how I can minimize this? I selected the "fit to TV safe" mode, yet the problem still exists. Please help. Thanks.

The problem is caused by your television settings.

If you show your slide show on someone elses television, the problem will likely be gone.

All television sets overscan the picture so you don't see the black edges when you view a show. How much they overscan varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and from set to set.

Proshow Gold lets you adjust for this condition.

On the row of Icons at the top of the screen, click on the Options icon. Then on the left side of the newly opened window, click on "Show Options".

Then look for "Save Zone Percentages". By default they are set to 10 and 5. That is 10% horizontal and 5% vertical.

You will have to do some trial and error to find a setting that matches your television.

My guess is, the sides that are cutting off the tops are vertical slides. Because the setting of 10 and 5 in reality is cutting a horizontal slide with a 4x3 ratio to 10 and 10 to maintain its aspect ratio.

If it is just the vertical slides that get clipped at the top, change the 10 and 5 settings to be 10 and 7. Then test the results.

If the horizontal slides are getting clipped at the top, your television vertical setting is way off. If you are using photos from a digital camera with a aspect ratio of 4x3, you will have to change the Safe Percentages to somthing like 10 and 12.

Well, here's a suggestion. Are you able to view as thumbnails in your computer's file? Rearrange them here by re-numbering or re-naming them. Then, once you go into Pro-Show all you need to do is drag 'em in and set the times, transitions, etc. I do it this way and really have more fun with determining the transitions and effects, etc. Don't wanna re-number or re-name your originals? Set up another folder, copy your pix to it. You can do the re-arrange this way too. Just get the pix arranged before going to Pro-Show. Have fun.
