Question of Reinstallation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLZ HELP!!!!!

Jul 5, 2007 7:20AM PDT

Ok I was told by the geek squad to reinstall the OS on my dell pc.
I put in the disc and I have gotten to the screen which says for me to select the partition to install the OS on....my problem is which one do I choose????
I have 3 choices....
1) -: Partition1 [FAT] 31MB (24MB free)
2) C: Partition2 [NTFS] 76254MB (50465 MB free)
3) Unpartitioned space 8MB

I want to override the existing OS so do i delete the old C one or install with it. If i choose to install on the C it warns me about installing two operating systems on the same partition!!!
So Im pretty sure I'll put it on the C partition since thats where the old one is....I am looking to start this comp all over again so thats why im doing this....
Any help is appreciated

edit: or should i delete the C partition and do it over again????

Put in the Dell Disk
Jul 5, 2007 7:42AM PDT

then restart the computer.

Press any key to boot from disk

choose installation

do the agreement

then it's your choice repair or install. If you install, you'll need some drivers. Not all drivers are on the Dell installation disk. I also have a drivers disk.

If you do it this way, you should get the prompt about partitions.

My personal opinion is choose repair first.

partition 1 is a recovery partition found on most dell computers. do not install on that.

partition 2 is the OS, it has the biggest amount of space. So install on Partition 2.

partition 3 you could probably delete, and it will add 8MB of space to Partition 2.

hope this helps
