Question: I need to buy a computer

Jul 26, 2005 5:27AM PDT

So I know other people have had similar postings like this, however, I still have some questions. Any advice would be appreciated for I am not that technically savvy.

Questions:

1. Where should I buy? Online retailer vs. Electronics store? Which online retailers?

2. What brand? Name brands vs. other companies? Ebay?

I need something that I can play games on, but also something that also acts like a media center.

3. Is a dual core processor worth the price?

And finally, any other PC buying advice or tips. Thanks a lot.

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=320288&pfp=BROWSE

its a great deal

if u want dual core get this
http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=320309&pfp=BROWSE

then buy a new powersupply and gfx card from newegg

for a powersupply, i suggest thermaltake, antec, enermax, ocz, etc.

for the gfx card i suggest getting a nvidia 6600gt

if u want to build ur own computer, u can buy all your parts from newegg, zipzoomfly, tigerdirect, etc.

if u want custom pc builders, i suggest monarch but theres also abs, velocity micro, cyberpower, ibuypower, alienaware, falcon northwest, etc.

Do either (or both?) have the TV Tuner as well? I did not see it in the Specs, but still wanted to check.

The Dual COre one looks like a great deal I think, but am interested in having the TV tuner feature
