Question and dont know where to turn

Sep 17, 2010 4:02AM PDT

this is my issue. I wish to get rid of cable tv. In this day and age of Hulu, free shows on cable websites and netflix and Downloads etc.. I find it unnecessary to spend 200+ for cable. I am a mac owner and use boot camp to dual boot to XP. Apple tv provides a streaming service that streams 3 services to my tv but really that kinda sucks, I don't plan on renting shows from I tunes when I can watch them on youtube, or fox.com or Hulu. what I am looking for is a device that can be used on my mac/xp that can put what ever the family wants to the tv, and would be best to have the pc still free to do other things. I was looking at things like external tv tuner dvrs and such but every person that I try and talk to really don't know much about this or how to do this. ANY info is helpful, Thanks folks really looking to stick it to cable.

especially comes to mac. You are paying 200+ for cable? It means you are using LOTS of premium stuffs and I don't think hulu is going to take care of that.

As for computer doing other things at the same time, I don't think computers are all that capable just yet. The way I do it is to use more than one computer.

And as for Netflix and other streaming services, there are lots of devices out there that can do that. Good luck.

All these services require broadband so you can't completely stick it to the them yet.
