Please hang up and forget they ever called.

I need some help Please. I just bought a new Dell XPS 8500 Desktop computer. I have had it about 1 week.
I got a telephone call from a computer Co. telling me that my software was infected, that I should run "eventvwr" and than select Event Viewer -> select Custom Views -> Administrative Events.
I did that and I found a Column of Errors and Warning and a Column of Dates and Time a Column of Source.
This computer Co. wanted me to purchase they service to clean out these errors.
I want to know if these error and warning are something that will damage my new computer?
Also how can I find out what is causing these error and warning.
Thank for Your Help

Thank You All for your replies to my question. It was a SCAM. I called Dell and they thanked me for alerting them about the Phone call.
They also help me find the company that called me. It was LogMeIn Rescue.
They wanted me to buy their software package.
Thanks Again. I Love CNet's Forum Group.
When you called Dell, did they say specifically that it was these "LogMeIn Rescue" who called you, or did they just find traces of LogMeIn Rescue's software on your system?
I ask because LogMeIn Rescue is a web site that offers "Remote Access" software which is legitimate software. People can download and use this software for the very purpose of the scam call you had.
it is the people who use the software who can abuse it.
That said, the comments at WOT here; http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/secure.logmeinrescue.com suggests that it is the LogMeIn rescue people themsleves who are doing this.
Glad we could help.

Dell Tech person helped me find the web link located in my History part of the browser and I also took a picture of my screen went LogMeIn people was showing me the Event View listing. They were telling me that the errors listed in the Event View would eventually crash my new computer.
Hope this helps

That telephone call IS A SCAM, and I hope you didn't follow any of their advice, nor agree to pay them any money.
As to the Event Viewer, I would ask you one question, "Is this computer working well?"
The Event Viewer logs everything the OS does right down to the last dot and t, and it will record errors. We all have them. If the computer is running well, then don't be concerned about those errors.
