Question about taking pictures up close

I own a Panasonic DMC-LZ3. I am trying to take pictures of jewlery to sell and I am have problems getting detail on close up pictures. The camera does not have a manual focus ( not sure that would help) What can I do to take a close up picture of things like watches and diamond rings and bracelet's????

Macro

You need to use the camera's macro mode. I'm not familiar with the procedure for entering the ZS3's macro; it should be in your manual, of course.
