Question about Sony camcorders.....

Feb 12, 2006 8:04AM PST

Specifically, I am looking at the Sony DCR/DVD-105.

The LCD screen is a 4:3 screen, but the salesperson told me that you can record 16:9 widescreen video.

WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS THIS: can it TRULY record widescreen video, or does it simply crop the image (i.e. cut off from the top and bottom of the image) in order to get the widescreen dimensions.

If it is the latter, the resolution of the image is going to be lower.

If it's like the Sony Mini-DV camcorders, if you select 16:9 aspect ratio, you get a true wide format picture
