Question about PS3, TV and Amp set up

Can someone help me out here. I have a Bose system that has optical input only so I was wondering if I put my HDMI from the PS3 to my TV and put my optical out from my PS3 to my optical in on my Bose, will that give me my picture from PS3 on my TV and the sound from PS3 through my Bose. Wasn't sure if you could use HDMI for picture alone while using optical for sound.

Thanks.

Should work.

But some TVs won't pass HD Audio so you have to set the PS3 to Stereo so the TV will pass the audio.

If you run the optical from the PS3 to the this Bose then you lock yourself into only the PS3 uses the Bose. Many want to have the TV use the Bose as well. Your choice but do try each setup to see what you like the best.

From memory, I believe it should work with simultaneous output on the PS3.
