Core i5 4300Y have ~same performance as Atom Z3770. Worth almost 2 times more.
Buying Core i5 4300Y version of the tablet is waste of money?

Answer
the main negative difference

seems to be the NX for one and a virtualized version called ND and the RAM limitation for the Atom. The advantage on Atom is the AES type encryption capability inbuilt.

The NX bit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NX_bit

To meet the Windows 8 requirement for NX feature and SSE2 instructions
support, the Windows 8 kernel checks for these features during
initialization. Systems that do not support NX or SSE2 cannot initialize
a Windows 8 kernel.

Intel Core i5 4300Y
features

Has a NX bit - Yes
Supports trusted computing - No
Has virtualization support - Yes
Instruction set extensions

AES

Intel Atom Z3770
features

Has virtualization support - Yes
Instruction set extensions - AES
Supports dynamic frequency scaling - Yes

Memory limited to 4GB - Yes

However, at wikipedia this claim is made;

Quad-core tablet SoCs
"Bay Trail-T" (22 nm)

All models support: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4,[4] Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST), Intel 64, XD bit (an NX bit implementation), Intel Burst Performance Technology (BPT), Intel VT-x, AES-NI.

So the difference is:
(SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX and FMA3) instructions (i5-4300Y)
Memory limit (4 gb for Atom Z3770)

Why would i need (SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX and FMA3) instructions? Which applications use them?
Do i really need 8 gb RAM (I cannot find 16GB version. I don't really want to upgrade it by myself (i am too lazy).)?

Isn't the Atom an embedded type CPU?
Apr 12, 2015 12:42AM PDT

If so, there is no upgrading it, unlike the other. So long as it will do the NX or XD or whatever w8 and w10 requires, I'd go with it. As for RAM, 4GB would be more than enough if using on a LINUX system.

Overall the Atom is intended to be the cpu for netbooks or tablets that aren't power hungry and generally tend to be cost effective. They don't upgrade other than ram or storage media. the whole idea is to present a PC that can last longer on battery life and simple tasks or chores.

The i-class of cpus are more robust and continue full-blown cpu offerings from Intel. It isn't as limited and the mtrbd. while supporting the i-class cpu is upgradable to the next level or class if desire. In other words, you get more and basic future upgrades are possibles excluding any OEM limitations. One reason its more expensive.

If an Atom based provides all your needs then get one, otherwise if you plan for wider needs or more intense usage, get a i-class cpu.

I agree with all the other posters as well.

plan to use on it.

Lower cost is great but only if the lower cost product does what you need it to do.
