Since you intend on performing a clean installation, wiping out what already exists, you'll want to boot from CD...launching the installer from within Windows is for upgrading from XP or installing alongside your current OS. Thus, you will want to go into your system BIOS and ensure that your CD-ROM drive is the primary boot device. Some have it set that way be default so you could try inserting the CD and restarting first, but for me it's a matter of habit to check the BIOS settings before proceeding.

I have a Dell XPS 400 PC (no Raid) that?s Vista Capable. I will be doing a clean install of the Full Version of Windows Vista Home Premium which I bought from Amazon as soon as the last two drivers I need are Vista(ized).
My question: Do I have to change my boot sequence in Bios to boot from my CD ROM to format and install Windows Vista?
or
Can I just put the Windows Vista DVD in my CD Rom and install it like I was installing any other application and still be able to use the clean format function?
There are no partitions involved as I?m trying to make it as simple as possible for myself.
Thank you
Andrew
