Not a bad card for the machine. This should do Netflix and such just fine.

Question about graphics cards:
does anyone know if this video card
will work in an old compaq I have? its the S5000NX compaq presario
desktop. The processor is pretty decent on this for its time and with
this video card I can make it do netflix and things quite well. But I am
unsure if the pci express 2.0 card will work in the older port. Can
anyone tell me if it will?
I think it will, but I am unsure. I build computers and I still always get confused with the older AGP and pci and the new pci express tech.
Anything is better then the built in on board intel 64mb shared memory
graphics lol. I realize I will not get the full speed of the card on an
older pci slot.

That card seems a little pricy, I'm not sure if its worth the upgrade. I wonder if i should bother. I was looking to spend $50 or less. It doesn't have to be a fantastic card. I think ill shop around some more. I just have to find pci only cards correct?
In the future how do i determine what I can put in my system or not? Pci or pci express, how do i know? By just looking at the 2 I saw major differences. I googled searched and found nothing. Is there a web site where I can learn the differences between them and how to know which is which? Thank you for your time. I need a major refresher.
Consider that the alternative would be to replace the machine.
So it's a very nice card, and the fact it's fanless is a real bonus for when we use it for a home theater PC.

Thank you very much. I guess I just imagined it being a little less expensive. Its 8 years old I think though, thats why I am debating about what to do. Its the family computer, so its just basic internet and word proccesing and stuff. As well as netflix. I'm debating but will probably do that. Thanks.
I found this website showing diffrent kinds of cards and ports. I remembered almost everything as soon as I read some of it haha. Amaziing what pictures can do.

The OP selected a best answer - but it was very wrong. The OP "answered" his own question - he stated he had a PC with only PCI slots and wanted to insert a PCIe card. A defnite no go from the start.
Fore more information about video card slots, see this page (the site also has other good info about upgrading video cards too):

Do you want to find another video card to upgrade to?
Do you have any video card in the computer now? What?
What is the make and model of the PSU? (This will limit your range of options)
What is your budget:
The above website will also help you better identify system components that might limit video card upgrade options and how better to state needs and requirements. See this page:

My mistake - I would have deleted this post if I could.
I did not see before that the card recommended by R. Proffiti was a PCI card. Boy do I have egg on my face.
