Question about dell motherboard with custom case/powersupply

Apr 14, 2005 8:11AM PDT

I was making a PC out of abunch of other ones I have in the house and I am using a nondell case and powersupply but dell motherboard. Two questions, how do I find out where to hook up the power SW and restart SW because dell cases have 1 big connecter but most other cases use a bunch of small ones. Also, when I turn on the powersupply when connected to the mother board I hear a loud pitch sound. I heard somewhere that dell rewired their motherboards so only dell powersupplys will work. Is that true?

http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com has the needed supply. But with P4 socket 478 motherboards going for 20 bucks around here, will saving that Dell board be worth it?

I have another ASUS board laying around with almost same specs. I will just use that. But, is there an adapter I can buy to make it work though?

Yes, but which one?
