Question about cookies

Mar 25, 2004 10:42AM PST

Hi, everyone, a question. If I send a cookie that is stored on my computer to a friend, will it work on his computer if he enters the correct web site, or because it has my name on it will it only work for my computer.

Thanks for any help.

The cookies are not personal cookies for bypassing sign-ins to sites but just general unsolicited cookies that are sent automatically.

Am I being too simplistic, because I assume that if your friend goes to the same web site it will store a cookie on his computer equivalent to yours.

Schokers and Russell thanks for answering. I was thinking of someone who could access a site but for some reason could not enter a part of the site that required a cookie. I think you have answered my question.

Hi Basil
Cookies are just like identification tags. So if you send a cookie from your computer to your friend your friend's computer will be identified as your computer by that website. But why would you want to do a thing like that?
