Hi , I periodically keep having a file appear on my desk top ..im running windows me .. sometimes its frequent .sometimes its a long time between ..when i hold my cursor over it it says type file 185kb when it appears..since i dont know what it is i made a folder on my desk top that says dont touch.and i put it there ..so then when it appears i put it in that folder and it like updates it self always around the same size..my son told me not to open it ..he said just ignore it.he thinks it has something to do with my operating system and doesnt know why it appears on my desk top..it's always very close on size ..Any ideas what it could be?

A certain time of day? You've run a virus scan on it?

Go to your don't touch folder. Don't hold your cursor over the file inside. Now-some questions:

1. What is the name of the file ?

2. Do you reconize the icon--can you describe it ?

3. Were you on the Internet when the file appeared ? What were you doing--what application/program were you working on what the file appeared ?

4. Right click the icon, go to and left click at 'properties' at the bottom. Here, you can see some information about the file. What information can you see ?

"peace of mind"

My reply had a dual intention. To impart a little Google power to you and to hopefully find your issue. I was definitly guessing if your filename had the "~" or tilde in it, but it appears you've found your answer.

Peace,

Bob
