General discussion

question.

Jun 2, 2007 8:16AM PDT

I was wondering, do web designers put a "signature" on every website they create?
I'm currently creating a website for a computer lab at my school, and I was wondering, should I just put my name at the bottom of the page and my email or something like that?

thanks, Marcelo.

Usually some form of contact...

Usually some form of contact is included, be it e-mail, phone, or physical address, so that visitors can contact the individual responsible for its maintenance. That makes it possible to report browser incompatibilities, broken links, potential copyright infringements, etc. Your name is not required, but some form of contact is always appreciated.

I'd agree

Also, if you are a webdesigner and design multiple websites (all with your name) it proves that you really did design them.

Not quite.....

You can put a little spot on the site that says something like, "Site designed by Marcelo," that is a link to your site so that if someone wants to look up your site they could do that.

that sounds good.
...and by contact information, I meant a mailto or a link to my site, I wasn't planning on putting anything else, but I think your idea is better.

Thanks, Marcelo.

for the copyright....I put the copyright symbol then "copyright, Marcelo..., all rights reserved" is that enough? What I mean is, something i dont understand about copyright is that, is writing the copyright statement all you need to do, for you material to be protected, there's no need to like register somewhere for you copyright to be valid or something?

thanks.
