Question #2

Feb 7, 2006 3:54PM PST

For Shelby:

Considering the tactics that BMW employed that got them banned from Google searches (for a while), how can CNET safeguard the integrity of the customer reviews? For example, can you guys track IP addresses to see if the glowing review of a Sony HDTV is coming from Sony corporate headquarters? Maybe flag it with a "suspicious" Gif if you note something fishy?

As I mentioned in a reply to AndyInTN, I never trust the customer reviews on these products, especially when they often differ quite a bit from the editor's review.

Ah crap! and Question #3
Feb 7, 2006 3:58PM PST

It's late... this was meant to be a reply under the Questions for CNET's CEO topic.

So here's a third for Shelby...

When will you give us the ability to edit or delete our idiotic mistakes?? Just a five or ten minute window. It's all I ask.

Thanks.

I usually always take the user reviews with a grain of salt, out of fear that its someone coming from the company. But, I love the editor reviews because they are really good. I LOVE Lori G. on the cameras section. She lets them camera makers have it!
