Need and/or Want

Determine what you need/want to accomplish, that you can't do now with your DSLR.

Give us that information,
plus:

1. Price limit for lens.
....(price usually dictates qualities and features)
2. Present camera information: make, model, current lens.

...
..
.

Difficult to say so

It depends whether what kind of shooting you prefer. My photographs are mostly either landscape or portrait type. So, it really depends what you look for. In addtion to that, like Joe mentioned, budgets also restrict what kind of lense you are willing to spend for.
