Would be to max out the RAM on that anonymous machine. You never did say what it was.
Second Step. Speak to the Support Desk of XPress.
Question: Once the lead designer puts in the edits and, presumably, saves the document, do they remain in place throughout the work session?
If he saves and exits, do all his changes remain in place. (I say he, but you get the drift)
P
We have a large layout doc for an upcoming book and it's giving the design team trouble.
Running XPress7.2 on a Mac OSX 4.11, which is running out of RAM sometimes, and my colleagues are finding edits our lead designer enters and saves disappearing from permanent file.
It seems the editing rounds are missing only a fraction of the edits, too many to be explained by operator error, and distributed throughout a project stage. For example, if they save 60 text changes in a day, they might find 10 undone the next day.
Now, while I can't think of anything more entertaining than poring over print docs to track old edits, my colleagues are wimping out!
Aside from getting new colleagues, does anyone have a suggestion?
Note: we are running out of RAM but the hard drive still has lots of free space. Files are in the 20-30 MB range.
Thanks!
