Qausi-results of my mother's gun collection sell off

I am taking the Blackhawk .357 and the Browning lever action .22. She is apparently selling the rest to my aunt's ex-husband for $10k including all the ammo. He's a multi millionaire and I expect him to fault on the side of generosity.

It's kind of funny I remember this guy when I was a kid and he drove a milk truck for his dad's dairy farm. He used to take me with him to deliver the milk and I'm talking about the 18 wheeler delivering not the local milkman. He started his own excavating business and it is now HUGE.

Ammo?

In reply to: Qausi-results of my mother's gun collection sell off

Hopefully it's not too old. I have a small amount here that's 20 yrs old and planning to dispose of it and replace with new just because I'm worried it is becoming too dangerous now. I'm not sure of the age at which it can become dangerous, probably depends also on environmental conditions. I remember WW2 ordnance left over in Europe that could still explode 50 years later and because it had aged chemical compounds had slowly formed in it that made it sensitive enough that a slight jarring could cause it to go off. Your friend may be able to have the quality of the ammo examined from a few bullets to see if it's at the point it needs to be disposed of yet, or can be stored for some more years safely.
