Q:How to stop people from filling out multiple forms?

Aug 30, 2005 3:02AM PDT

I just got my own website on saturday and yahoo is the host and I used yahoo site builder to design. I made a form so people can get a price request for my service on my site but someone keeps filling out the form and putting jokes on the forms! I wanted to no if there is something I can do, like you can only fill out the form once on the IP. And i was wondering if there is something I could put on my form that people have to enter a valid E-mail and if it doesnt have a @ sign it makes it invalid and people can make sure they have the right e-mail.
Thanks,

There is a sort of spam that happens when you open your site to such an attack. Just wait till some script kiddy decides to send you some few million entries. It will happen.

Such forms are slowing dieing all over the web. Think about if this form is generating sales and if not, remove it. If it is, then consider it the cost of using forms.

Your form goes to some database. You can sort it by IP address and then toss out the ones that are abusive.

I find this goes very fast and not a big time sink unless you are getting thousands of entries.

I would not share this upsets me since it only makes the problem worse.
