The problem is that the keyboard combo is for a Screen, or part of, shot. This also applies to the utility called Grab, which is in the Utilities folder.
It takes pictures only of what appears on the screen.
After you have saved it, in picture format, if you print the picture, one of the options in the print dialog is to save it as a PDF document.
One way around it would be to make the original document small enough to fit on the screen. Capture it and then
print to PDF. View with Reader or Preview at 300% and you have something approaching original size again.
There must be some shareware out there that will capture an entire window, regardless of size, but I have not looked for it.
I demonstrate my ignorance but...
In another thread I read that you can screen shot as a pdf using
apple + shift + 4
which leaves you with a larger, more legible screen shot that can be manipulated more easily in Adobe suites. I was really excited about this untill I ran into a situation where I was trying to make a copy of a resume' example that was larger than the window it appeared in...when I tried to move the marqui tool down to catch the bottom of the page it refused to go past the edge of the screen, thus making an incomplete copy of what I wanted for later use. Is there a solution to this or was I trying do do some thing with the wrong tool ? By the way...I opened up this page in Safari, explorer, and Firefox and each browser gave me different options in the ''save as...'' dropdown menue. A different can of worms but something I thought worth mentioning. Safari would only save this item as a .gif file while Foxfire offered me more options.
