PVP Help

Aug 5, 2005 2:24PM PDT

I am looking to buy a PVP and I would like some help. The Creative Zen Vision is a near perfect match, it has all the features i want... but it's too expensive. I need a Creative Zen Vision like player for a MUCH lower price ( $300 or lower ). It doesn't really have to be a PVP,just something that can play video ( Cowon iAudio X5 would be nice, i heard some problems about interface ( no organization by artist, album, etc.)
Thanks for your help

How about...

..the Gmini 400? I've got it and love it. It has a 2.2" beautiful screen, ID3 browsing (Album, Artist, Genre, Year, etc) Playlst on the go, plays videos at a maximum of 30 FPS (average FPS for shows are around 25), and it's got some (lame) games, but they occupy you when you're bored. I can't comment on audio quality because to me, it all depends on what head/ear phones you use. I've heard a lot of good things about the X5 too. I would've bought that, but its screen was considerably smaller (1.8" vs 2.2".. for such a small size already, it's a big deal) and it only played a maximum of 15 fps. I've read that it has top-notch audio quality and FM radio too. So, it really depends what your most sought out feature is.

Minor Problems with Gmini
Aug 7, 2005 6:43PM PDT

I was thinking about getting the Gmini 400 but two things stopped me, bad battery, ONLY TEN HOURS!?!Also, the lack of an FM tuner, and the remote costs $50. AHHHH but the screen is so nice... I wish they had an iPod sized mp3 player with a screen taking the whole thing up Happy.

iRiver H320????
Aug 7, 2005 6:45PM PDT

I've been looking at the iRiver H320 too, it has the same features as the x5 ( video with a firmware download, so I've heard ) and it has better battery life and better interface. Any advice on x5 vs. H320.

O yeah, it has a 2" screen compared to x5's 1.8"
Thanks Happy.

X5/320

Yeah, the Gmini's battery life isn't very good. It's upgradable to have it at 15+ hours, but it would void your warranty.

The X5 has a smaller screen, but it plays back video at a better framerate at 15 fps

The H320 has a bigger screen than the X5, but it plays back video at 10 fps

If you have action movies that you want to upload, you're going to need at least 20 fps so that your movies don't skip framerates. I believe most cartoons are around 13 fps, so the H320 might be able to play that well.

no H320

I've just learned that the video firmware is only available for international iRivers and downloading it would mess up you WMA support so the iRiver H320 is out. Any other suggestions on a good PVP/MP3.
