Put SD card in computer - turned off

I put an SD card from my digital camera into my HP a6120n machine running Vista and the machine just shut down. I have no idea why this happened. Any clues?

Try another machine with this same card.

First another Vista one, than XP or Windows 7. What happens?

If all is fine with THIS card, try another card in your machine. What happens?

1 card 1 machine

I only have a built in SD card slot on this one machine. I can transfer to my XP machine with a usb cable, but this would be more direct and convenient.

Now find a friend or relative ...

with a PC with a card reader and try there. It's the only way to see if the card is defective or something is wrong with your PC.
