Pushing Americans out of jobs

Apr 11, 2015 10:09PM PDT

BO has been spouting for years about how we should keep this visa program going to bring 'qualified' STEM workers from other countries to the US.....and yet, not only are they taking jobs from Americans ALREADY employed in those jobs, but corporations are now requiring those same Americans to TRAIN their replacements, who are willing to work for far less at those jobs. It's time to end this insanity....

BO has veto power, Diana

Doesn't matter how many Reps are in Congress if you are still bucking a Pres who won't sign bills he and his party don't agree with. BO had cover when Reid wouldn't even bring them to a vote....

Republican Congress moves into deal-making mode

Capitol Hill has seen a burst of bipartisan deal-making and legislating in recent days as newly empowered Republicans try to show voters they can govern responsibly when they're in charge.

After a bumpy start, GOP leaders seem to have found their footing — passing a historic $200 billion Medicare reform package, striking big, bipartisan deals on Iran, education and trade, and preparing to pass a GOP budget for the first time in a decade.

Pass the bills...the ball is in Obamas court.

THAT's how it works...do what you can....THEN complain.

So you actually buy into that?
Apr 18, 2015 8:01AM PDT

You don't believe that Iran will wipe out Israel as soon as they get those 'iron dome' missile protectors from Russia? The only reason they want them is to keep Israel from bombing their nuke facilities.........BO got what he wanted....He held Israel off as long as possible for the last two years or more, and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out later that this was planned between BO and Putin long ago when BO became more 'flexible'.

Bibi is the ONLY one who got it right......and the only mistake he's ever made has been to trust BO, even a little bit.

BO's only legacy will be a shell of a nation that he'll leave behind for someone else to try and clean up and protect from all the enemies we now have on the table.........and we'll have to do it alone because we have no friends left, thanks to BO.

Luckily, the USA has a new friend now, thanks to BO: Cuba. Blush

It's small compared with the friend brought in by Richard Nixon in 1972 (China), but it's better to have a good neighbour than a friend far away, as a proverb says here.

That says it all. The idea that you want to blame Dems or Reps. shouldn't be so one-sided, Anyone in office wanting campaign $ will do whatever. I've seen this since the 80's if not sooner. They hired the Ruskies when they escaped from the iron curtain when I did computer rebuilds(old stuff). They hire Brits when I worked in the oil jobs and of course it seems many a Indian or Paki in other oil related fields. They then hire those to do in-house support or later offshore support. I've seen this for over 30yrs. and I though we'll see the last of it. It's corporate America that's screwing around, go after them, don't buy their products. Big business brought so much stuff from China, they didn'
t even need to bring them over or did they??? What??? Yes, it seems a heck of alot of Chinese came over to be educated then they got hired. Then they bleed the secrets to the homeland sooner later. So, you want to blame anyone, better point the finger all around. -----Willy Happy

As long as Congress
Apr 12, 2015 4:31AM PDT

has laws that allow this behavior of corporations, and actually encourage it, it will go on forever. I just find it exceptionally insulting to have Dems/liberals constantly state that immigrants 'only' take jobs that Americans won't when they know for a fact that it's a lie.

Somewhere along the line a law got changed/altered/or done away with that said companies could fire people only for good reason....and they weren't allowed to fire them just to replace them with lower paid workers and to add insult to injury force them to train their replacements. I haven't found anything yet that says those fired are allowed to collect unemployment benefits or any retirement packages due to being fired. I also haven't found anything in the NLRB files/records on line that indicate they are even allowed to fight what's happened/happening to them. The NLRB, Federal/State Labor Departments and State/Federal fair labor laws aren't supposed to only represent union jobs, so why haven't they attempted to sue the companies over this or at least fight to stop this practice?

Corporations are ALWAYS going to do whatever they can to make money.....and as long as the laws are in their favor to do so, the ONLY place to dump the blame is on Congress and ALL who support this crap.

Republicans may
Apr 12, 2015 5:43AM PDT

have allowed the visa program to advance to this degree, but it is only the Dems that actually RUN on the spiel of immigrants only taking jobs Americans won't.......Americans actually HAVE those jobs currently and are being fired and replaced with cheaper labor, so their argument is falling on its face without much publicity, if any at all.

Do you believe this is good policy?

Not all employees affected are Unionized, JP

IF the immigrants are taking the jobs from Unionized employees, they are automatically required to join that same union, so the union isn't affected one way or the other. What's your point?

the union isn't affected one way or the other. What's your point?

Union is not affected? Why not?....If not, then you're also not affected.

I questioned ..................You agree with UNION officials?

UNION claims

Exclusive: Union Official Says 'Corporate Greed' Behind Push for H-1B Visas

YOU claim

Corporations are ALWAYS going to do whatever they can to make money.

(but that's NOT greed, that's just doing business)

Ergo...you agree with UNION.

- Collapse -
I will commend
Apr 12, 2015 8:59PM PDT

the Union Official for saying something publicly to protect the CURRENT workers....it still won't alter their income base because that worker will be replaced with another union worker (UNLESS.......the visa program also prevents that new worker from HAVING to join because they are not going to be here longer than two or three years before having their visa expire and have to return (another joke because many don't leave)...and if that's the case, then the Union is only looking towards the dues lost and not the worker at all). So what's your point?

I have already said many times, and you keep beating that dead horse for some reason, that companies are just following their legal out to reduce costs and increase their profits (they are also, by law, required to protect their investors/shareholders). So what is your point?

So do YOU agree with this visa program that gets Americans kicked out of a job they've gone to college to get the degree they have in order to GET that job, have to pay back those student loans, and now be OUT of a job that they were doing well just so they can train their own replacements who will work for less money?

You ask a lot of dumb-*** questions that don't have much, if anything, to do with a post but rarely give an answer. I'm guessing you are really more interested in diverting and deflecting than debating the topic......as usual.

different opinions
Apr 13, 2015 4:48AM PDT

Whatever decision the government makes, there are going to be MANY citizens that are going to have different opinions. People are going to either be FOR it or AGAINST it. What do you know, the government cant please EVERYONE. As for this, I dont think its right to push out employed Americans just so that they can place them with immigrants for less wage. Who knows, maybe this might actually be better for America, but I know that many citizens in the US are already having difficult time finding a job.... Sad
