The unit had quite a warranty for being a 2006 release. I'm sorry to hear that you have problems only a short time after the warranty expired, and I do sincerely hope we can earn your business.

Usually, in my experience, the "colored snow" symptom is an issue with an electronics board and not the panel. However, without looking at the unit, I'm really unable to give a better diagnosis than the technician that you spoke with.

So not to add to the confusion, but it can be repaired. Is it worth the cost? That's something I can't determine.

I will say that the price of plasmas has come down significantly. If you're looking at a possible $300-500. repair, you might consider that new panels in that size are considerably less expensive compared to prices from several years ago. It may be worth comparing.
