Publishing Problem: Green Screen

I've been using Windows Movie Maker for years now but all of a sudden I have a strange saving problem. It might be associated with a few other smaller problems I have.

When making a video, sometimes the coloration will be different (mostly hues of purple and green). Then other times it won't play unless I get rid of clip or adjust how I placed it. I have no idea why this is happening, maybe the codec?

When I go to save the video (after long hours or having to adjust and change clips) the video will play weird. The titles and pictures will be normal but the video clips themselves will be weird. The video clips I used that were purple and green tinted will be normal but all the other clips will be scrunched up on the top of the screen and the bottom half will be green and sometimes staticed.

Is there some kind of download problem or what? Can someone help?
