Publisher file wont open on network

by Starchildren3317 / June 5, 2008 5:42 AM PDT

I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why a Microsoft publisher file will not open on my home network. It will open on my server PC but it will not open up on either of my two PCs that are on the network.
This is the only file that seems to be acting this way. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe Using The Wrong Version Of Publisher?
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / June 5, 2008 6:15 AM PDT

For example, a Publisher document created in Publisher 2003 can not be opened with the Publisher 2002 version.

Or maybe you don't have the correct permissions to open the document.. On the other machine, change the permissions so the "Everyone" has "read" permissions.

Hope this helps.

Older version of Publisher
by Starchildren3317 / June 5, 2008 7:17 AM PDT

Thanks Grif. That is what I kind of figured was that the newer version of publisher could not open the file created on the older version. That kind of stinks. I did check the permissions just in case and they are all set so that everyone can read.

That's Not Quite What I Said...

A new version of Publisher should be able to open any previous version.. On the other hand, an old version of Publisher can not open a document created and saved in a newer version.

Hope this helps.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
