Question

Public computer - control panel hidden

Mar 13, 2016 11:58AM PDT

I often use a computer at the school I attend and most of the control panel items are hidden. I read my online textbook on this computer and it sleeps after only a few minutes. It is quite annoying, but the screen saver item is hidden from the control panel. Anyone know some code to get the computer to sleep after like 30 minutes or never? Or any other way to get the computer to stop sleeping after a few minutes?

contact the schools IT department

If you make a strong case, sometimes the IT department will make changes. Other than that, this forum will not help you bypass security.

Move the mouse or press a key every few minutes? Usually, that's a sign to Windows that somebody is using the computer and there is no need to put it into sleep mode.

there are different options that you can try that will not require you to hack into the computers locked control panel. sometimes playing a cd will stop it from going to sleep. Just play a cd with the sound off when you are reading. There are also utilities that can run from usb drives that will simulate mouse movements. just do a search for them.
