I just looked over the specifications to a laptop hard disk and found this nugget "3 year design life."
Add this to the battery that is now 300 cycles and there is no laptop made that you can give assurance that it will last 6 years since you are at double the design life of the products.
How about this. Can you use one of the 600 buck laptops and replace it in 3 or so years?
I need a laptop that will carry me through a full six years of graduate school while running SPSS. I'm kind of a rough/clumsy girl, and I wreak havoc on power supplies; finding something with a magnet that accounted for this would be awesome. A long battery life that allowed me to sit and take notes would also be ideal, as would a brand that allowed for a warranty and costumer service. I'd like to keep it under 800 (graphics and sound aren't a necessity), but I'll be jazzed to find anything under 1000. Any ideas?
