PSP Folders appearing on Desktop

Mar 26, 2004 2:06AM PST

Using Win XP Home, and PSP 7.0.0.0.

Just started recently, when I open PSP, it puts... Brushes, Textures, Frames, Gradients, Patterns, Shapes, Styled lines, FOLDER ICONS on the Desktop. There is an individual icon for each of the above.

I delete them, and next time I use PSP, the icons are back on the desktop.

This just started, don't know what I may have done to make it happen.

Did run Virus Check with AVG, SpyBot and Ad aware.

Appreciate any help.

Ben

From the PSP Help.

"You can organize your tubes, patterns, textures, gradients, brushes, frames, shapes, styled lines, and plug-in filters by storing them in any folder on your computer. Use the File Location Preferences dialog box to set where Paint Shop Pro searches for these files, for Web browsers, and for any undo and temporary files that are saved to a folder other than WinTemp.
To open the dialog box, choose File > Preferences > File Locations.

Using the File Locations Dialog Box

Vixen of Verbiage"

That last line is in there!

Thanks Bob,

the files were shown to be on DESKTOP, I changed all of them to read... "C/PSPFILES".

Deleted them from the desktop.

Rebooted computer to set settings.

Opened PSP, 8 psp folders appeared back on my desktop.

Went to RegEdit, deleted CACHE from PSP, opened PSP,
files appeared on desktop.

Went to RegEdit, CACHE back under PSP.

Can't find any info from PSP help.

WHAT/WHERE is "Vixen of Verbiage"?

Thanks

Ben

The path looks to have errors.

The funny vixen line only appeared after I copied, then pasted the text from the help screen. It was not visible in the help screen. It's likely to be there, but in some White-on-White text.

You write "the files were shown to be on DESKTOP, I changed all of them to read... "C/PSPFILES".
"

"C/PSPFILES" has no less than two error. A missing ":" after the C and a forward slash rather than a backslash.

Some programs will want:

1. A properly formed drive and directory entry.
2. Some want a trailing backslash, others don't.
3. That the noted directory exist.
4. That the shortcut be changed to Start in a specific directory. Then those files appear there.

Best of luck,

Bob

Bob told what was wrong with the solution of the OP (2 errors in the path). The OP never told if it worked if he corrected those 2 errors. But since he didn't reply, my guess is that it worked.
