Is Dark Knight the only Blu-Ray movie that you've had trouble with, or are there others in your collection with this problem?
I might suggest trying to switch the audio settings to see if that might clear up the problem as well.
I don't have a definitive answer on why this might be happening. Firmware was a good idea - try booting up the player without a disc inside of it first, and once you get the splash screen, try loading the disc and seeing if that might help.
A second to last resort - try a different HDMI cable if you can.
Keep me posted. If that doesn't work, I want you to be a happy customer regardless, so do what's best for you.

Recently I have connected a BD-P1500 to my 50? Samsung plasma via HDMI.
Upon watching Dark Knight I was only able to watch the first 30 seconds or so before the sound starts to cut out for several seconds only to return for a couple of seconds, making the movie unwatchable.
I was unable to update via USB or CD but did download via Ethernet, the first time giving me nothing but a black screen.
I am aware that other people have been having a similar problem (and I have been searching forums for the last several days looking for an answer before having to bother you busy people!).
Some responses have been that it is a handshake issue, would this still be the case considering its hooked up to a Samsung TV.
