PS3+ X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty+Bose Companion 5= no sound

by Divx4u / September 27, 2009 10:00 PM PDT

Hey everyone. this is the problem that i am in right now. I have PS3 which is hooked up to my HD Lcd monitor via HDMI cable. I have Bose Companion 5 connected via USB to my windows vista pc. my pc also has a X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty. My X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty sound card comes with a option of hooking optical in and out. Since Bose Companion 5 system does not come with any other input i thought i could make use of the soundcard's optical in to connect the ps3's audio. to my bad luck i am not getting any sound. I have already switch the audio setting on my ps3 from HDMI to Optical. I was able to verify that if i am getting sound to the soundcard by plugging the headphone in to the headphone jack of X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty 3 1/4 inch panel at the front of my pc.

MY PC Spec

Windows Vista Business 64-bit
Asus P6T
Intel i7
6GB Ram
RAID 1 500GB hard drive
250GB Hard Drive for storage
GeForce GTX 280 OC Video card
LG Blu-ray Drive
X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty
700-Watts power supply.

I think that's about it. I hope i have provided enough info for anyone to help me out. Any help would be great. Much Thanks in Advance

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
