Question

Ps3 to Surround Sound

Nov 13, 2011 5:37AM PST

Just bought a new Ps3 Slim today and having trouble figuring out how to hook it up to my receiver. As of now the Ps3 is just directly hooked up to the tv with an hdmi cable. However my receiver has no hdmi inputs to plug the hdmi cord into so kinda stumped any help would be great.

If the only output on the PS3 is HDMI, and your receiver has no HDMI, that's it.

Digital Optical Out

The PS3 slim has a digital audio optical output (TOSLINK). Most modern receivers have an optical input, so you'll just need the appropriate cable.

Otherwise, you might also be able to take the audio output from the TV (depending on the make/model) and send it to the receiver.
