Seems simple enough. Run an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the receiver, and then you're done. Or you could just connect the cables you have now (known as composite) and connect them to the receiver. That will only give you upmixed audio however, not true surround sound. For that you will either need HDMI or a toslink optical cable for audio.
I know theres piles of threads running through many problems, however after reading them and rereading others i didn't find an answer to fix my problem.
Hence my joining Cnet to post a question.
Purchased a 42inch samsung tv which came with a home theatre system.
Currently have my PS3 hooked up to the TV with an hdmi cable.
Have the Home theatre hooked up to the tv with an hdmi cable.
And have the PS3 hooked up to the home theatre with the original red.white.yellow cables.
Tried switching the PS3 audio options around and such, i don't get any noise what so ever.
The Home theatre works fine , the ps3 works fine , the tv works fine.
Not really sure what i'm missing and what would be the easiest and cheapest way to get the sorrund sound working with my ps3.
Appreciate any help.
