I don't have my PS3 hooked up via ethernet cable so I can't comment. But have you gone to the Sony PS3 forum? It may have been discussed there and Sony may have a separate forum link with posts about this.
I am wondering if any PS3 users have had their accounts at the PS3 Online account compromised. A couple of days when I tried to log onto my acount, my user id and password did not work. I tried this many times thinking that I may have mistyped the info. When I clicked forgot password, the email of where they would send me a temporary password was not my email address. I called Sony to see what the problem was and to report that my account may have been compromised. They said they would need to call me back. I called them back again the same day when I found several charges totaling about $300.00 on my credit card. I immediately cancelled the card. Sony reps told me that they have had security issues. Now I am waiting until tomorrow (Friday 30 May) because they would call me in the evening. According to them there is nothing they can do except to try and fix my account to make it more secure. Thats what the call is supposed to take care of. So now I am going to file a fraud alert with my credit card company to dispute these charges. I am wondering how this could have happened. Is it something at my end or entirely at the the PS3 end? Is they any way that Sony can trace who may have done this. Shouldn't they be able to use the email, IP address. Any help would be appreciated.
